Chrissy Teigen always hits it out of the park with her beauty game, but her dewy skin at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards was particularly aspirational.
"It is no secret that Chrissy is an absolute bombshell," says makeup artist Mary Phillips, who prepped Teigen for the big night. "For her VMA look we focused on skin. With her dress showing off her amazing body we made her beauty look fresh and dewy, which started with her skincare routine. I just found LEADERS Sheet Masks. They are perfect right before a red carpet! Not all sheet masks are created equal, and this is one of the best! You can instantly feel it working and penetrating."
Philips also used La Mer Eye Balm Intense to hydrate the delicate skin around the eyes and reduce any puffiness, helping makeup to glide on easily.
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, one of Phillips' favorites, was used to even out Teigen's skin tone.
"I mixed several colors in certain spots, and used some alone in certain areas, but customizing your shade is so important, and the amount of options that you get with this? You can get it right down to a T," she says.
Phillips admits her next step, using Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer in #12, might scare some with its almost burgundy pigment, but she assures it's actually the secret weapon to Teigen's sultry look.
"It is sheer," she says. "There's a hint of red in this bronze, which makes it really nice on warmer yellow undertone coloring. You need a color that's going to add some punch when you're doing a very skin-centric look, otherwise you can look too bare. I would say this shade is the look's anchor as far as the skin makeup itself is concerned."
Then she added Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer in #10, more of golden color when it's layered over #12 it creates an almost bespoke tan.
"This is what I'm using as my bronzer, and depending on how 'tan' you'd like to be, continue to layer and pat into the skin," advises Phillips. "Don't drag, or swipe. One of the things that I truly love about the sheers is that they look like skin, and not in an 'undone' way."
For the eyes Phillips used Giorgio Armani Eye and Brow Maestro #2 in Wendge Wood which acts a liner in this look and was used on the brows by brushing upwards and outwards for an undone eyebrow. To add more depth to the eye, she added a warmer, carmel tone with Giorgio Armani Eye and Brow Maestro #4 in Ambre.
Phillips finished off Teigen's brows with Tarte Colored Clay Tinted Brow Gel in Taupe and added Buxom Lash mascara in Black.
"I'm a total mascara girl, and this stuff is insane," enthuses Phillips. "I don't know why I don't see more people talking about it, but it's possibly the best one out there."
For a subtle, nude pout, Phillips used Giorgio Armani Lipstick Rouge d'Armani in Beige 102 and Bite Beauty Cinnamon Plumping Lip Oil to add to that just-bitten effect.
